Bereavement: Provides education, counseling, consultation, and support for grieving individuals, families, agencies or community groups.

Breaking Loose: Provides individuals with coping skills to help deal with the physical and mental effects of unemployment.

Canadian Red Cross Society Windsor/Essex County Branch, 944-8144

Emergency Services: Provides food, shelter, and clothing during personal emergencies such as house fires. Agency also works with other emergency service providers in the event of a major disaster.

Home Health Care Equipment: Provides affordable rental of home health care equipment (wheelchairs, commodes, crutches).

International Services: Provides tracing and reunion services to assist in locating and communicating messages between immediate family members separated by wars, civil unrest, and disasters.

Family and Individual Counseling: Individual, family, and couples counseling services related to family functioning, marital conflict, parent-child issues, and other mental health and wellness issues.

Credit Counseling Services of Southwestern Ontario, 258-2030

Family and Individual Counseling: Trains and educates individuals on money management and budgeting. Also assists clients and their creditors to re-establish a sound financial base.

Crisis Counseling: Provides short-term counseling and intervention; group work is offered to help with stress, anger, and divorce issues.

Family and Individual Counseling: Provides a full range of counseling services to persons of all ages in Windsor and Essex County.

House of Sophrosyne, 252-2711

E.M.P.O.W.E.R.: A series of tri-weekly workshops open to all women in the community interested in improved wellness.

Family and Friends: Provides group counseling to family members and significant others of chemically dependent women to help cope with and understand matters relating to substance abuse.

Parenting in Recovery: Program for parents to help deal with specific needs of parents in recovery and runs concurrently with the Children’s Program.

Pre-Treatment Program: Support and assistance to chemically dependent women who are on the agency’s waiting list for admission to the residential treatment program.

Adults/Criminal Justice System: Counseling and group programs for adult males and females who are referred through the legal system.

Multicultural Council of Windsor and Essex County, 255-1127

Life Skills: Provides practical skills, development programs, settlement assistance, and credential recognition services to help new Canadians adjust and integrate into Canadian society.

The Responsible Gaming Information Centre, 519-977-0440 http://rgic.org

Responsible Gaming Information Centres (RGIC) are located on-site at Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Windsor in Ontario, providing information to patrons and casino staff. The Information Centres are managed and staffed by the Responsible Gambling Council, a non-profit organization that undertakes public awareness programs and research to prevent gambling-related problems. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation provides funding, space and support for the Responsible Gaming Information Centres.

Windsor Community and Rehabilitation Services: Practical assistance and support for community and residential clients directed to meeting their physical, psychological, and social needs.

Family Life Education: Presentations for schools, faith communities, and service clubs to provide information and education on healthy living.

Group Work Services: Group therapy for personal growth and social adjustment.

Employment Program: Provides employment training including job readiness training, employer’s job bank, and guided job search assistance.

Residential Program: A supportive residential program to assist released prisoners transition to freedom. Services include relapse prevention for substance abuse, life-skills training, pastoral counseling, and community volunteerism.

Food Bank: Emergency food assistance for individuals and families experiencing financial hardships.

Victorian Order of Nurses Windsor-Essex County Branch, 254-4866

Prenatal Health Education: VON nurses provide education and information to mothers and their partners on the changes they can expect during the various stages of pregnancy, labour, and delivery. Programming also includes care for the newborn and adjusting to family life.

Well-Come Centre for Human Potential, 971-7595

Food Cooperative: Provides single women and families on fixed incomes with access to affordable, nutritious food on a monthly basis.

Women’s Services: Educational and informational programming that helps women become aware of barriers that limit their individual choices toward self-sufficiency and full participation in society. The program helps clients develop strategies for change within a safe environment.

Tenant Support Services: Provides assistance to low-income families with residential support, in addition to helping with food, household goods, and clothing.

Windsor Jewish Community Centre, 973-1772

Family Services: Provides counseling, crisis intervention, case management, immigration services, and support services to the elderly.

Group Work and Education: To meet the social, cultural, recreational, and educational needs of families and individuals ranging from infants to seniors.

Physical Education: Health, fitness, and aquatic programs for people of all ages.

Adult Recreation Programs: Fitness, health, and recreational services. Programs are also available in communities throughout Essex County.

Windsor-Essex Family Network: Provides support to local families who are affected by disability and/or other disorders; promotes strength, competence, and knowledge with the family.

Youth and Family Resource Network of Essex County, 733-8983

Support and Advocacy Services: Provides assistance to families and individuals in the Kingsville, Cottam, and Harrow communities with ongoing support and referral to other community services.
